A Study Pack with CD Rom

The 2001 White Paper 'Valuing People' has resulted in the development of the Learning Disability Award Framework (LDAF), which requires that all newly appointed staff caring for people with learning disabilities must register to study for a formal award.

This is a major challenge for all employing authorities, who will be providing in-house training for their staff to gain this award. This brand new learning pack has been specifically developed to meet the needs of untrained staff working in the field of learning disabilities.  It is an exciting new initiative providing a completely up to date method of learning.

All of the learning material is supplied in one A4 ring binder and also on a CD Rom , which is user friendly and requires virtually no knowledge of computers.  

Throughout the program the learner is presented with almost 100 activities in their separate workbook which reinforces their learning, and provides the evidence that learning has taken place.  

Where appropriate the CD provides instant links to interesting websites on the internet, providing the learner with a unique opportunity to learn from the latest news as it breaks, but to also gain confidence in using this important media.

Where a group of carers work together on a single site, with access to a computer linked to the internet, the opportunity for group tuition provides the in-service training officer with a ready made course of study.  This offers incredible economy with a need for just one CD Rom and enough individual workbooks for all the participants.

The 'Valued People - Valued Lives'  Programme provides a balance between the need to to learn about values and principles that are fundamental to the care of people with learning disabilities, and the knowledge that carers need to enable them to do their work with real competence and confidence.

The student workbook which is included in the pack contains almost 100 structured exercises which require the learner to become fully active in their learning through reflection, enquiry and practical tasks. This means that the learner is active in the learning process, and using the learning materials in the context of the place where they work, and with the clients they care for.

The completed workbook activities provide the evidence that the learner is actually learning, that they are actually completing the course of study.

For the training officer the whole package provides a well structured approach to staff development with a modern style of delivery, no need to spend time developing teaching notes and having to think up exercises and activities for the learners.  The Workbook makes it easier to supervise learners individually or in a group and have immediate access to evidence of individual's progress.
